No one ever said leadership is easy….
Blue Lion Coaching works with leaders in all types of organisations, in a number of ways, to assist them in achieving better performance. This includes one-to-one coaching, team coaching and leadership development programmes. In our successful Performance Landscape programmes we identify the positive behaviours of the animals of the Serengeti and recognise the behaviours that are less helpful. All of our team have senior manager experience, with a track record of effective leadership – and they are all qualified and experienced leadership coaches and seasoned facilitators.
What makes our programmes different?
Well, when did you last go on a leadership development programme that compared your skills to that of a lion, or your vision to that of a giraffe? Does your organisation operate in silos, like herds of wildebeest? Have you got the thick-skin of a rhinoceros to implement necessary change?
Traditional leadership development programmes deliver lots of theory, for you to put into the context of your organisation. We don’t do that. We do the reverse and work with you, to understand the context of your unique Performance Landscape and develop the leadership to make it successful. If a theory happens to support that and be useful to you, then we’ll share it with you. Like elephants, we are happy to share the learning from our experience with you, so that you can avoid some to the mistakes we’ve made, develop your leadership and improve the performance of both you and your organisation. We don’t tell you how to run your organisation nor do we say, “what you need to do is….” That is not our style. It is your organisation and you know it better than anyone.
Our ethos has the following basic principles:
- Leadership development programmes that are delivered in a coaching style – not a front loaded ‘death by PowerPoint’
- Focus on ethical leadership.
- Delivering leadership development that meets the performance needs of your organisation (as long as it is ethical).
- A strong emphasis on the relevance of what your learning being applied in your workplace, to improve the performance of both you and your organisation.
- Ensure a tangible return on investment for your organisation.
- Negotiating and enabling any cultural change necessary to ensure employees at all levels achieve their potential.
- Integrated emphasis on values, ethics, equality and inclusivity. We know that people who ‘believe’ in an organisation commit to it, work hard for it…..and stay.
- We include a range of development opportunities……. a classroom is not the best, or only, place to learn.
- We make clear the connections between organisational goals and individual performance.
Before embarking on the Performance Landscape journey….
We meet with senior staff to unpick what specific areas you’d like to address, which are the priorities and any cultural change you consider necessary.
We help you define ‘what success will look like’.
Where appropriate, we chat with people at all levels of the organisation to get their perspective. The reality is that employees will more often tell us the truth, rather than telling you what they think you want to hear.
“Begin with the end in mind”………. we work with you to create a route-map of where you want your leaders want to be in the short, medium and long term.
Delivering The Performance Landscape Programme
Our Performance Landscape leadership development programme is tailored to you.
It’s challenging, imaginative, confronting, directly relevant, sometimes uncomfortable, engaging, impactive and invariably fun!
We often find that it’s not tasks that cause problems; it’s how busy leaders interact with their staff.
We use case studies and exercises that are either from the client organisation or ‘local’……not generic. One size does not fit all.
We ensure that participants prepare at least one written Action Plan, describing how they will go on to apply their new learning into their workplace.
You have the option to integrate first line, middle and senior leaders or you may choose to undertake role specific programmes.
Flexibility is the key. We have the skills and experience to adapt our content and methods to your needs.
After We Have Delivered The Performance Landscape Programme.
All our leadership development programmes are subject to structured evaluation to ensure that they achieved what you expected…… and more. We ensure that there is follow–up to the participants’ Action Plans. As they say in rugby, ‘use it – or lose it!’
Where appropriate, participants can form Action Learning Sets to undertake work-based tasks, projects or initiatives; further increasing their performance, achieving tangible results for your organisation and, therefore, increasing your return-on- investment.
